Jasmine Ellen Scott Music

Seventeen-year-old Jasmine Scott from Middlesbrough is the feature of my first official music post and she is incredibly talented. She has gigged solo for three years and with fellow band, Serinette, for six months and is really marking her territory on the ever-growing Teesside music scene. She is influenced by Pearl Jam's Eddie Vedder and has an array of local influences such as Glad Town Ghosts, Bi:Lingual and Huntsville.

Jasmine will be releasing an EP this year with Share The Wealth records and she has given me some demo tracks to listen to and review. Her SoundCloud account is filled with great work, particularly the things that I've heard.

On The Brink is a brilliant acoustic track that oozes originality and is understatedly powerful. The gentle guitar melody subtly underpins the emotion that is translated in the lyrics. Jasmine's muted tone completes this song simply.

The next track, Away, highlights Jasmine's intricate piano talent and she achieves the same level of emotion that is captured in On The Brink. The vocals are incredibly powerful and almost operatic. The song definitely highlights Jasmine's individuality as it defies the sound she is typically influenced by. Having played piano for nearly eight years, the skill in this song is undeniable.

Childhood Dream Refrain is a fantastic tune that exemplifies Jasmine's Pearl Jam influence. The momentum of this track builds into a feelgood, soft rock tune and her vocals are effortless and ethereal, yet there are small hints of grittiness that solidifies Jasmine's sound.

Please go and check out Jasmine's work - you will not be disappointed (links below). Her next gig is on 14th February @ O'Connells, Middlesbrough, be sure to pay her a visit to hear her tracks live. Soon, I will have the pleasure of reviewing another excellent Teesside artist named Megan Dotchin so please keep an eye out for that!
