Tracks I'm loving right now!
I love Kaiser Chiefs and my love was rekindled when frontman Ricky Wilson began judging on talent show, The Voice. They had been absent from music for a while but released a new album at the end of March 2014. In an interview, Wilson said that working on the show was a great platform to get his band's new material heard and promote it to the masses, which seemed to work considering it went straight to number 1. Coming Home is the first track to be released from their new album and I think it's a sound overhaul for the fivesome. They gained a new drummer after the departure of Nick Hodgson. Vijay Mistry replaced him and he seems to have sparked a new energy into their music. It's a lot heavier in comparison to their old stuff and I think it's going to set their performances alight when it hits festival season!
Band of Skulls - Nightmares This is my ultimate summer/festival tune. It's brilliant! Like Kaiser Chiefs, Band of Skulls have worked on some new material and released this single off their new LP 'Himalayan' that's out now. I haven't had the chance to listen to the rest of the album yet but based on Nightmares alone, I think it's going to be in my top 5 albums for this year. Nightmares is based on indie and alternative rock sounds and it's a chilled out yet excitable tune to get you moving, I highly recommend that you listen to this.
Royal Blood - Little Monster What. A. Tune. I first heard this song on an MTV advert and later discovered that it was Royal Blood. I presumed that they were more of a metal band but they are a powerfully talented hard-rock band that demonstrate distorted electric guitar sounds and really strong drum beats. It is sure to be electrifying live on stage.
Kasabian - eez-eh This in my line up of favourite tracks but I don't particularly like it. I'm a massive fan of Kasabian and I'm counting down the days until their headline slot at Glastonbury but this song has been released and it's unlike anything they have ever produced. I think it was even described as 90s rave. It wasn't unexpected because Kasabian are innovators in the music industry and have almost created their own genre because they are so individual in their musical style. They combine rock n roll with electronic, synth sounds and you know it's Kasabian as soon as you hear them but I don't know where this idea came from. The lyrics for this song aren't that thoughtful and it is a bit bonkers BUT I would recommend that you listen to it because I bet it's one of them that will probably grow on you so just have a listen!
